On October 16, 2024, the Douglas County School District (DCSD) Construction department and the District’s Owner’s Rep firm, Wember, issued a Request for Qualifications/Proposal (RFQ/P) to all prequalified CM/GC firms for the Legacy Campus Phase 2 project. Twenty-five (25) responses were received on November 4, 2024.
The Construction department staff along with the Bond Director reviewed submittals and shortlisted seven (7) firms for interviews. Interviews were held on November 20, 2024 and November 22, 2024. Interview panel members included the Assistant Superintendent, Executive Director of Schools, Director of Athletics & Activities, Assistant Director of Postsecondary Readiness, Director of Legacy Campus, Bond Director, Director of Construction, Construction Staff and members of the Wember team.
JHL Constructors was selected as the CM/GC firm based on recent similar experience, the project team, and the design/pre-construction services fee proposal. JHL Constructors has been working with the architect, Hollis + Miller, Legacy Campus staff and other District staff to verify and finalize project scopes and costs.
The CM/GC project delivery method was selected to complete the Legacy Campus Phase 2 project. An initial Guaranteed Maximum Price (iGMP) has been submitted by JHL. The iGMP is represented in the First Amendment and is for the demolition phase only. A Second Amendment for the iGMP for the full project scope will be submitted to the Board of Education at a later date for approval.
The Legacy Campus Phase 2 project is included in the 2024 Bond Plan and 2024 Bond funds will pay for this award.
